How the Internet Works

This computer science workshop takes a looks at how the internet works to support teachers delivering the computing curriculum.




We will look at:

  • The internet infrastructure and how a home or school computer connects to the WWW
  • IP addressing and routing
  • DNS and finding a website
  • Packages
  • Sending email
  • Filters and firewalls
  • Ports and protocols

Suitable for key stages 2 and above this workshop is  for teachers or support staff working with the children and will give a overview and general understanding of the workings of the internet.

After the workshop delegates will have the opportunity to stay on-line for a Q&A /help session if required.
