3D modeling using Sketchup Make
SketchUp is 3D modeling software that empowers students to be 3D designers. SketchUp is a great tool for constructing 3D models of buildings, trees, cars, and anything students can imagine. You can use it as a stand-alone tool, or in conjunction with Google Earth and the 3D Warehouse.
From simple house to skyscrapers, SketchUp Make (was Google SketchUp) can add an extra dimension to sketching or drawing. This free 2D/3D modelling software can be used to get a flavour of house building or architecture amongst other things. In this workshop you will learn how to use the basic tools, import downloaded models from the internet, and finally, create a house or other buildings. SketchUp Make is a great tool for linking geography, art, design and ICT covering a wide range of curriculum areas and can easily be used by the children from KS2 upwards. If you would like to work alongside the workshop you can register and download the software here SketchUp Make .
